The Ricky Gervais Show: Season 1. Take the comic insanity of Ricky Gervais, his creative partner Stephen Merchant and the butt of many of their jokes, Karl Pilkington as they talk about everything under the sun on their podcast and turn it all into a cartoon and you have HBO’s The Ricky Gervais Show. The show itself has been around since 2001 and supposedly the podcasts have been downloads ’8 million times’ (according to the BBC). The first season of the HBO series is now on DVD and it’s a treat beyond treats. With the addition of animated Gervais/Merchant/Pilkington, the show can go anywhere and does with the same hilarity of the podcasts. The DVD is available now with all 13 episodes and the second season is currently airing on HBO. Definitely a must-have if you like to laugh.
ER, season 14: The penultimate season of the long-running NBC drama kicks off year 14 with stars Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, Parminder Negra, Scott Grimes, Linda Cardellini and the ever-dreamy John Stamos saving lives, dealing with complicated relationships and continuing the tradition of solid, medical drama. While ratings weren’t as high as before by year 14, the quality of ER was just as strong and does not disappoint.

Dallas: 14th and Final Season: Think JR Ewing (played by Larry Hagman) is softening in his older age? Wrong! As the final season kicks off, JR is still in the midst of lies, blackmail, seductions and the craftiest schemes. Along with JR are two other original cast members – Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) and Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval) – who are still as passionate about the oil business and maybe a little bed hopping along the way. The finale (guest-starring Joel Grey) features an It’s A Wonderful Life finale where JR is shown what the world would be like without him. Are things for the better or worse? Tune in and find out as the final season of Dallas arrives on DVD.

Dark Skies: The Declassified Complete Series: Perhaps a show ahead of its time, Dark Skies was set in the 1960s and focused on a freedom fighter (Eric Close) who stumbles upon a longtime cover-up by the government of (what else?) aliens living among us. With his girlfriend Kim (played by Megan Ward), the twosome try to bring down a covert operation while also trying to save their lives from the sinister (or is he?) Captain Frank Bach (played by character actor J. T. Walsh). One of the appeals of the show was the fact that the fictional elements were woven seamlessly in with real people such as Bobby Kennedy, Jack Ruby, Timothy Leary and J. Edgar Hoover. The DVD contains all 19 episodes as well as a previously unreleased treatment of what season 2 would’ve had if NBC had not cancelled the series.
