Who loves #BONES? YOU DO!! Fans let their passion fly with their favorite @BONESonFOX episodes & moments!

The first season cast photo of BONES (Pictured L-R: Eric Millegan, Jonathan Adams, Michaela Conlin, TJ Thyne, David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel. )

@HartHanson @TJThyne Maybe it’s the fact that while we’re seeing all the new fall shows prep for their debuts in the next few weeks we’re still more than 2 months away from Season 7 of Bones (take a deep breath! New episodes are coming!) but I heard from so many of you about your favorite episodes, guest stars and moments in the last six seasons that it’s good to know that the time without original episodes has only made your love for the show grow! And, I have to add, the fountain of knowledge all of you Bones fans have is impressive to the say the least!

As I stated in the original post asking for your thoughts and comments, I’m not doing a poll in the sense of a Top 10 of the best episodes but just thought it would be fun to collect a lot of the episodes mentioned the most and I also found some photos and video clips that are fun, too. So, let’s look back at some of the Best of Bones!

In the 2009 episode, THE DWARF IN THE DIRT, Booth (David Boreanaz, R) seeks advice from Dr. Gordon Wyatt (guest star Stephen Fry, L)

Fave Guest Star: One thing that was fairly unanimous was that the favorite guest star throughout the series is Stephen Fry. From my calculations (with a little help from IMDB.com), the British funny man has appeared on Bones as Dr. Gordon Wyatt five times thus far. With Bones being a show with quite a sense of humor, Fry fit right into the show and we can only hope we’ll be seeing more of him since so many of you mentioned him as your favorite.

Here are some of the favorite episodes and the moments that we’re still talking about (and laughing or crying over to this day!)….and, just to be clear, there is no particular order here.

Brennan (Emily Deschanel, R) helps Booth (David Boreanaz, L) make a difficult decision.

The Beginning In The End: Don’t worry, even though this was the Season 5 season finale (S5:22) and the fear was put into our heads (and hearts) that the Jeffersonian team could actually separate one day, we all knew that our crew would get back together eventually…in Season 6 to be exact. The episode also had some heartfelt moments when Sweets (John Francis Daley) has to say goodbye to his beloved Daisy and Brennan has to decide if she wants to leave, too. If anything, this episode showed just how much we love the entire cast of Bones and the idea of them being apart was almost as horrific as some of the cases they work on!

If there’s one reason we love Bones it’s because the show is a seemingly effortless blend of comedy mixed in with some drama and often horrific cases. A perfect example of a part of the show that made you all laugh was when Hodgins (the awesome TJ Thyne) has an encounter with some nunchucks in the Devil In The Details (S5:14). Enough said, right? Here is a behind-the-scenes clip of how that scene in the show came together.

The Man In The Fallout Shelter (S1:9): Thankfully, a lot of you shared some of your early favorites and this episode was mentioned more than once. It was the show’s first Christmas-themed episode when the group is quarantined in the Jeffersonian lab. While the case of the man in the episode title is the work part of the show, this is one of the first times that we get to see a bit more about our team and get those early hints about what makes them tick.

SMOOCH!!!

In The Santa In The Slush (S3:9), the team investigates the death of a Santa Claus imposter but the real reason to love this episode is the hot lip-lock between Brennan and Booth under the mistletoe. While these two may be a long way off before they confess any feelings for each other, this kiss was enough for fans to know that sooner or later they’d have to face up to their attraction to each other.

Check out this behind-the-scenes video of the big kiss!

Who doesn't love a chat between Brennan and Angela? (from THE PARTS IN THE SUM OF THE WHOLE)

The Parts In The Sum Of The Whole (aka, The 100th Episode, S5:16): A lot of shows do flashback episodes but they aren’t usually as satisfying as this one! When Sweets finishes his book detailing the Booth/Brennan relationship, he asks them to tell him about their first meeting so we go back six years and we find out that (shocker!) Booth and Brennan kissed on their first case! We also get to see Angela coming to the Jeffersonian for the first time and, of course, we get to see Zack (Eric Millegan), too! And then, post-flashback, came the moment that we’d been waiting for since the show began…Booth confesses his true feelings to Brennan but she says she doesn’t have an open heart and he tells her he has to move on. As good as this episode it was, it also a sign that if they were the twosome were ever going to get together romantically, it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.  *sigh*

The Doctor In the Photo (S6:9) was an amazing acting tour de force by Emily Deschanel. When Brennan identifies a skeleton that ends up resembling her it jolts her into evaluating her own life and the choices she has made. It doesn’t even matter whether the skeleton is truly a replica of her because it gives us a rare window into her psyche. As many of you said, the scene in the car with Booth is heart-wrenching as she reveals a vulnerable side that we don’t see often of the show. Here’s a preview clip from that episode:

The Hole In The Heart (S6:22): This was a tough one. With Jacob Broadsky close by, it was just a matter of time before he was caught but, first, we’d lose someone that we’d all grown to truly love every time he appeared on the show. Broadsky shot into the Jeffersonian and the bullet didn’t hit its intended target (Booth) but instead hit Vincent Nigel Murray (Ryan Cartwright). Both fearful for safety and determined to finally get Broadsky, Booth insisted that Brennan stay at his apartment and she ends up in his bed and in his arms (albeit dressed) but it’s hinted later that they did sleep together. Did they? Didn’t they? Hart Hanson knows how to drive us crazy!!  (Oh, and Booth does get Broadsky once and for all)

A priceless expression by Booth...

...matched only by the beautiful smile of Brennan!

So, of course, after The Hole In The Heart, it only makes sense that the sixth season finale, The Change In the Game (6th Season finale, S6:23) would be another favorite and while it’s an oddly typical episode with Booth and Brennan going undercover (with Ryan O’Neal in tow) at a bowling alley, the last moments were enough to shock us all. With Emily’s real-life pregnancy, it hadn’t truly been announced how the show would deal with it but when Brennan told Booth that she’s pregnant with his baby the only thing better was the look of glee that came across Booth’s face. Priceless.

And, of course, if you happen to miss the Comic Con trailer from this year’s event (since the cast had to cancel their appearance), here it is!

Were there more episodes and moments that I didn’t include that you think are a MUST to be here? Let me know and, who knows, I may have a follow-up post! We have more than two months so lots of time to keep the Bones love alive and strong!

Some great moments there! They remind me of why I fell for this show in the first place. A lot of them also show exactly why I am a “shipper” as well. Booth and Brennan are simply made for each other.

One of my favorite scenes is when Booth is at her apartment and they’re talking about music (just before the refrigerator explodes.)

Alyssa August 29, 2011 at 8:10 pm

What about the Baby in the Bough? I think that episode was foreshadowing the B&B future :)

Some of the best moment of Bones, it’s a good and sweet reminder of the reasons why I love this show. Thank you for this article Jim, it’s really appreciated.

Poetic_line August 30, 2011 at 2:46 am

I loved the 4th season finale seeing Booth and Brennan in love and kissing a lot.

5th season finale made me cry, put me in shock and killed me.

I loved the rescue scene when Brennan was held by the crazy cop and the dogs were going to eat her.

I loved the poignant scene in Sweets’ office when he was introduced in the Secret in the Soil. Booth so longed for Brennan. There are probably too many scenes I love.

Janett August 30, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I absolutely love this show, but for me The Doctor in the Photo has to be one of the best episodes if not the best. Emily was brilliant and was able to bring Brennan out of the shell she’s been in most of her life, truly a beautiful episode.

Maria August 30, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I can’t believe the epp of when Zack either figures out the murder(ess) from the loony bin or the epp when he ends up having to go to the loony bin wasn’t even mentioned…do you have ANY IDEA how much we MISS Zack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angie August 30, 2011 at 8:13 pm

I thought the episode where Bones has to strip Booth down because he had santa parts on his clothes was pretty neat. HE is standing there in his boxer shorts(yum) and she pops off and says something scientific about one of his body parts. Then Hodgins sees Booth, comments about his no hair chest and Booth defends him by starting to talk about his happy traail being normal. I laughed so hard. That was also the same episode where Angela asks if she can be in on looking Booth over. What Booth says is priceless also.(Make fun of the naked guy). I don’t want to embarrass myslef here, but Booth is one hunk of a man. There are so many I like, but this one sticks out for me.

Erin August 31, 2011 at 2:41 am

I loved Judas on a Pole. Season 2 had some awesome episodes. The feel of this episode was very different to any other Bones episode I think. I also loved the Verdict in the Story – when Booth and Bones shared that long look on the stand and they both realised they would do anything for each other.

Anne August 31, 2011 at 3:01 am

I loved this post but one of my favorite episodes is “The blackout in the blizzard”. It was such a sweet episode and filled with emotions (kudos tp the actors for their amazing performances) and very humorous. I can watch over and over again the moment when Hodgins knocks down the pot with the blue water and it goes all over the squintern :)

J August 31, 2011 at 3:56 am

Fun article, so many great moments over the 6 seasons, and it definitely helps me miss Bones less. So thank you! :)
(One little thing: it’s The Beginning IN the End, not The Beginning OF the End)

Emma August 31, 2011 at 5:21 am

Favourite show ever.. But cannot believe this moment was missed..dine and dash :)

MOMMAHURLEY August 31, 2011 at 8:07 am

I loved so many, but a few that haven’t been mentioned yet are….

= When Booth explains to Brennan, the difference between Making Love, and Crappy Sex, in Death in the Saddle!

= When Booth and Brennan are in his apartment talking about that she’s just not meant to find someone, and he tells her, “All those things you think will never happen, they happen, there’s someone out there who’s gonna love you, for you… you just have to be open to it”. Can’t remember which ep this was.

=In the Vertict in the Story, when Booth explains to Brennan, about “sometimes you gotta put your Brain in neutral, and you heart into overdrive..vrooom”…. priceless!

=The hankercheif moment… in Mahem on a Cross.

=When Brennan and Sully are in her office and Booth leaves with the folder…looks back and sees them kissing… they way he slaps the folder on the table and tries to act casual like it doesn’t bother him…. priceless!

Too many to name..there’s at least one scene in every episode that I absolutely love and have to watch over and over again.

MOMMAHURLEY August 31, 2011 at 8:23 am

I also have to mention all the times even in season 6, even when Booth was with Hannah, that his love for Brennan shone through…and couldn’t be hidden from our knowing eyes. And when the deep abiding love of all of these characters for eachother is revealed.

-When Booth realizes the Telephone was really Brennan’s idea “<3*"
-When Booth watches Brennan as Bunsen Jude the Science Dudes sidekick. "<3*"
-When Booth thanks Brennan for saving Hannah's life "<3*"
-When Brennan confesses she has regrets…I know some think he was cold…I think he was shellshocked, and paralyzed with regret and indecision. "<3*"
-When Hodgins Tells Angela, "if our baby is blind then I'll take up Piano, and you'll sculpt…we can do this!" "<3*"
-When Booth says "you can love a lot of people, but there's always on you love the Most…. of course he meant Brennan! "<3*"
-When Booth looks at Brennan through the window without her knowledge..the love is blinding… "<3*"
-When after Booth says "That's it ! That's the only options..either stay, as my partner…or GO!" And Brennan says "Those are my only choices?"…"Then I'll stay". The look on Booth's face said it all! "<3*"
-When Brennan says, "I mean I've thought about it …havn't you?" and Booth says "yeah"… oh man… ok so maybe that was love with a huge does of lust at that moment! lol "<3*"
-When Brennan is upset about VNM's death and says "What kind of person am I, I wouldn't send him away?" etc…… She looks to him for comfort… and he says "yeah… c'mon… that's what I'm here for"…. always was..always will be "<3*"
-When Brennan says "I'm Pregnant…You're the Father. " Booth's smile….. "<3*"

I simply cannot wait until season 7!

Indiana August 31, 2011 at 9:06 am

I become hooked on the show because of David Boreanaz’s portrayal of Agent Booth.
DB has taken James Garner’s place as best best male TV actor currently.
DB’s facial expressions when holding the star, while Brennan takes his picture (Queen Bee) cracks me up every time I see it. Emily Deschanel is the most beautiful and talented actress on TV and DB and ED definitely have chemistry!

Sapphire August 31, 2011 at 11:31 am

ok their is alot of cute moments in bones between B&B but y favorite moment, is booth and bones very first kiss :) that kiss changed every thing, even thought they kissed before even being partner, but that kissed show the tension between the two love birds lol :)

Isabelle August 31, 2011 at 3:31 pm

What’s the name of the episode where Brennan and Booth are in a barn (I think it’s the one about dog fights but I’m not too sure) and she starts crying because of her messed up family and Booth holds her while she cries??? It was so touching!

Whitney August 31, 2011 at 3:31 pm

I have lots of favorite episodes (most of them listed here), but I do like Season 2, Episode 13: The Girl in the Gator. This episode (if I have it right) is when Brennan is being targeted by someone and then when Booth gets hurt, Brennan is paired up with a different FBI agent who is actually the bad guy and Booth breaks out of the hospital to rescue her! :)

carol schoen August 31, 2011 at 3:34 pm

I have been watching reruns of Bones practically everyday on different TV stations. The interaction between the characters make you think that each episode is new.

Ann (nelliesbones) August 31, 2011 at 3:36 pm

The End in the Beginning. Everything we’re missing now, everything we’ve wanted to see… we’ve already gotten a glimpse there. It has been a dream, but nothing happens unless first a dream. It completes s06.

Melissa August 31, 2011 at 3:36 pm

DANCING PHALANGIES!!!!!

I absolutely love how Bones tries to entertain the baby!

Eric August 31, 2011 at 3:42 pm

I fell in love with this show the instant i saw it for the first time. From the mystery, the romance, the comedy, the subtle foreshadowing, this is an automatic hit for me. I am now holding my breath for season 7, ive seen a preview and i am SOOOOO excited ^^ OMG i cant wait :D

PKarma August 31, 2011 at 3:51 pm

How can anyone pick one favorite out of all the Bones episodes. Each and every episode is awesome! How they make the bodies look so disgusting but you are so glued to the mystery you can’t stop watching it. One episode, I don’t think so. Show is top of the charts. Great chemistry between the actors and it shows.

cara August 31, 2011 at 3:59 pm

Dancing phalanges, that’s all I have to say.

Jani August 31, 2011 at 3:59 pm

The best episode was “death in the saddle”!! The last scene when Boothe tells Brennan what love is, is completely poetic! There is not another scene that has ever said so much!

Olivia August 31, 2011 at 4:00 pm

What about the episode where booth is in a coma and he has the dream while bones writes her book….gotta love it :)

Jim August 31, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Thanks for the episode title correction, J. I can’t believe I didn’t notice that! Thanks again!

margee leigh kimmel August 31, 2011 at 4:10 pm

THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH ZACK MOMENTS LISTED!!! This being said my first favorite was in the episode, The Man in the Fallout Shelter. Zack says the phrase, “Be kind. Rewind.” I litterally rewound the DVR five times during the first airing of this because it was an out of character statement for Zack to say. lol
My second favorite was in the episode, The Man in the Bear, in which Zack and Hodgins fight over a delivery girl and in the end the girl chooses Angie. AWESOME!

Casey August 31, 2011 at 4:12 pm

When Booth smiles at the fact that Brennan is going to have his baby, that is the only thing that he did right in the ENTIRE season!! I love Booth, but come on man!

Chelsea August 31, 2011 at 4:18 pm

The Doctor in the photo made me cry. Bones realised she was lonely also wondered why she never gave booth a chance , but when she asked him he told her it was too late, The last episode made us Bones watchers Content and i cant wait for november,

clairelynn August 31, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Yikes! I have watch so many reruns of
Bones and I have never seen the show where Brennan tells Booth she is pregnant. How could I miss this and where can I watch that episode? I have been waiting for so long for her to realize how she feels towards Booth. You just made my day.

Mary August 31, 2011 at 4:29 pm

I loved The proof in the pudding, I think it’s my favorite episode ever. I don’t see how Booth could get any hotter

Angela August 31, 2011 at 4:33 pm

As terrible as it is… One of my favorite episodes is where Zach is revealed to be working with Gormegon. I always thought it would be cool to have a good guy shockingly be a bad guy… it was more depressing than I thought it would be. I also like all of the grave digger episodes, except where she got her head shot off- that was revolting.

Karyn August 31, 2011 at 4:35 pm

Hard to pick one favorite scene but one that keeps flashing into my mind in moments of reflection appears Ryan O’Neals face in the glowing dusk as he prepares to set the deputy director of the FBI on fire in “Judas on a Pole”…he could see his anguish at what he was doing coupled with his love of his children, trying to protect them and feeling conflicted. Very moving also is the music for that scene…it stays with me.
Also, I love the scene in “The Glowing Bones” where Hodgins uses the phosphorus shrimp to show Angie how much he loves her and explains that they belong together even if she never agrees to settle down and marry him, and SHE asks HIM to marry her…beautiful and sweet!

Dorothy August 31, 2011 at 4:36 pm

This is one of my favorite shows I am so excited that bones is pregnant with booth’s baby I have been wanting them to get together. I just love this show can’t wait until it comes back on

ronda August 31, 2011 at 4:39 pm

One of my favourite Bones moments not listed here is the Jersey Shore episode, when Bones observes the guidos like an anthropology study and imitates their characteristics to bond with them. Emily plays the role so well and is hilarious.

Joanna August 31, 2011 at 4:57 pm

I cannot narrow my favorite Booth and Bones moment down to one, BUT my favorite Booth moment whn he is not with Bones is from that episode with all the teens who were getting pregnant and he sits down with the boy who fathered several of the babies. That scene made me fall in love with Booth all over again.

joyce belt August 31, 2011 at 4:58 pm

if you mary booth and bren in the first part of season 7 you loose the mystery of thear relation ship which keeps us in suspence and on the edg of our seats.

(BRING BACK ZAK) ‘

.

jeritha August 31, 2011 at 5:43 pm

Can’t pick just one episode, love them all!
Our 7yr old grandaughter is nicknamed BONES because she is just like her!

JBM August 31, 2011 at 7:03 pm

A big part that was not mentioned was Micah the night watchman in The Doctor in the Photo. He was an excellent character to help Bones reason all the uncertainty. I also like the fact that we do not know if Micah is real or not.

Kelsey August 31, 2011 at 7:09 pm

What about the plane one people??? The passenger in the oven!!!! When Booth arrests the kid before they land and lose jurisdiction! AWESOME.

kecia eaddy August 31, 2011 at 8:15 pm

kecia e aug 31 2011 can not wait until season 7 start i have been waiting all summer to find out what happen after bones told booth that she was having a baby that is going to be the best thing ever this is going to be the most watch season hurry season 7.

serena vann August 31, 2011 at 10:18 pm

The clown episodes!!!! Way too funny!!!!! Best ever!!!! Maybe need another clown show!!!!!!

Chaitanya August 31, 2011 at 10:39 pm

I would even like to see Jonathan Adams return (remember the African American Dr. Daniel Goodman?), he was definitely a better boss than Cam, and also a really nice character!
And more of Stephen Fry please!

Jane September 1, 2011 at 2:55 am

I can’t believe nobody mentioned when Booth runs down into the quarry and digs Brennan out in the Aliens in the…–first Gravedigger episode.

I love all the Squinterns, but I’m firmly in the WE MISS ZACK camp.

Michael September 1, 2011 at 8:02 am

Well I have a lot of favorite episodes and a lot of them are already on the list but my absolute favorite episode is the season 4 episode 14, The Hero in the Hold. where the gravedigger kidnaps Booth. In this episode we learn a lot about Booth’s past as a sniper and we get to see the ghost of his good friend (Teddy) and get to learn that they were really close because Booth named his son after him (Parker was Teddy’s last name). Also though we get to see the relationship between Booth and his brother by his brother Jared breaking the law to save him and not to mention we get to see just how far Bones is willing to go to save Booth. Then at the end they have the perfect ending with Booth and Bones going to visit Teddy’s grave and Bones sees and talks to Teddy’s ghost, not knowing who he is, which proves that he was a ghost after all and was not related to Booth’s tumor that he developed at the end of the season. To me there has yet to be another episode that was created that was as good as that.

April Dawn September 1, 2011 at 8:22 am

My favorite moment is in the Gravedigger episode where Bones and Hodgins are trapped in the car. The best part is when you see that little explosion in the sand and Booth starts running toward them. My heart just swells everytime I watch the episode and see him pull her out. True love right there!

Dorothy September 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm

my favorite show is when Booth is in a coma dreaming and it has everybody in it. It was great

IZZY September 1, 2011 at 8:38 pm

I just love this show the whole cast work great together” I love Booth and Bones”

Jennifer September 1, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Season 3 Episode 5 – Mummy in the Maze – was the first Bones episode I ever watched, and it’s still one of my favorites!
