For the next two weeks I’m counting down the top 10 features on JimHalterman.com based on reader traffic.

If there’s one thing I learned in 2010 it’s that you all LOVE your hunk lists. What’s not to like, right? So, coming in at #7 in the Best of 2010 countdown is the Fall TV Hunk List. Sure, some of these shows are already gone (or on their way out) but this was the seventh most popular post I did all year. Enjoy!

The hunk lists I’ve done in the past have met with great – and sometimes challenged – response but while the top 10 are not always unpredictable, what about all the guys who are the up and coming Top 10 and could easily knock the usual hunks off their pedestals at any given moment? The following 10 are definitely hot, have either given the audience what they want (in more ways than one) or will this fall but they are also more unsung when you compare them to the attention given to the other guys (O’Loughlin, Wesley, Ackles, Somerhalder, etc) so this Top 10 list is devoted to those guys or, simply, THE TOP 10 HUNKS TO WATCH THIS FALL TV SEASON. Who knows, maybe this list will help propel them to new heights. And, of course, go to the end of the list to find a few that I just couldn’t completely leave off the list…

Jason Ritter plays it serious in THE EVENT but nothing sexier than a hero, right?

Jason Ritter/THE EVENT (NBC): Ritter has been carving out quite an acting career over the years with series roles (Joan of Arcadia and The Class) as well as an impressive lineup of indie films where he’s been able to show off his talents, both dramatic and comedic. On the new NBC series The Event, Ritter plays Sean Walker, who is pulled into an extraordinary government cover-up. When the highly profiled series premieres next month, Ritter’s star should rise even higher. (premieres September 20th)

Mehcad Brooks is the latest Calvin Klein model...WOW!

Mehcad Brooks/My Generation (ABC): After roles on True Blood and the short-lived The Deep End, Brooks has proven himself not only as a hunk but also as an actor with more layers than expected. When the series My Generation premieres September 23rd, fans will see Brooks as a soldier in the Iraq war dealing with being separated from his pregnant girlfriend back home. When I chatted with Brooks during TCAs, he was very excited about this new role and being able to show he can do more than take off his shirt (which we hope he’ll still do!)

Captain Awesome IS pretty damn awesome (and HOT)

Ryan McPartlin/Chuck (NBC): He’s been playing comic relief on NBC’s spy thriller series for the last few seasons but as the series has grown over the past three season, so has his part and that’s a good thing for fans of the underrated McPartlin. Thankfully, Chuck will be back in full force this fall on NBC so we’ll get to see more of the sexy McPartlin. Whether he’ll be in skimpy clothes (as has sometimes been the case) or just flashing that good looking smile, McPartlin is definitely making his presence known. (New season begins September 20th)

Chris Gorham's COVERT AFFAIRS' Auggie is sight-impaired....glad I'm not! Agreed?

Chris Gorham/Covert Affairs (USA): Fans of the handsome Gorham have been aware of him for years as he’s popped up as Betty’s amorous Henry on the early years of Ugly Betty, Out of Practice or the gone-but-not-forgotten Popular. But anyone who questions Gorham’s talent was shut up with CBS’s summer series Harper’s Island where the always-good-guy Gorham ended up being the killer on the series and nailed the role (both good and evil sides) with great skill. Now, as the right hand (blind) man to Piper Perabo’s rookie secret agent on USA”s latest hit Covert Affairs Gorham is again showing that he can do much more than just smile and be good. It looks like the series will be around for awhile so we can look forward to the actor gracing our televisions with his presence for many years to come. (Airing Tuesdays at 10/9c on USA)

Michael Trevino on the press line at last month's Comic Con

At Comic Con, Steven R. McQueen was working the press line with ease.

Michael Trevino/Steven R McQueen:/Vampire Diaries (CW): While hunky Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have gotten most of the attention since The Vampire Diaries premiered last year on the CW, supporting players Trevino (who plays Tyler) and McQueen (who play Jeremy) are finally going to get more screentime with the upcoming 2nd season this fall. Trevino’s Tyler Lockwood is said to be going to be going through some wolf-like changes perhaps and McQueen’s introspective Jeremy Gilbert was ready to be bitten and see what all the fuss was about with the vampire clan of Mystic Falls. Surely Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec will have us all on the edge of our seats as the hunky guys get some juicy storylines to play. (And if you missed the photos I took of the guys at Comic Con click HERE for TREVINO and HERE for MCQUEEN.  Great, nice, hot guys, who deserve a little more of the limelight). (2nd season begins September 9th)

Joe Mantangello is steaming up the current season of TRUE BLOOD

Joe Manganiello/True Blood (HBO): Fans of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris knew that the character of Alcide was ever-important to the saga of the Bon Temps characters but when creator Alan Ball cast hunky Joe Manganiello in the role, he did more than just get a good actor, he nabbed one of the best looking guys on the scene today and, thankfully, the guy can do more than make everyone speechless when his shirt comes off. With credits on shows like One Tree Hill, Manganiello has been biding his time before hitting mega-success but he’s now become a fan favorite of the HBO series. For those of us who don’t know Harris’s books, we’ll be curious to see where Alcide (and Manganiello) takes us…and if his shirt happens to fall off once in awhile, we’ll just have to try to remember to breathe deep. (airing now)

Nate Berkus/The Nate Berkus Show (syndicated): He’s been a regular contributor on The Oprah Winfrey Show for years and while I still don’t know why it took so long, I’m glad that the out and proud Berkus is finally coming to TV this fall in his own syndicated show. Whether he’s doing a home makeover or helping people make their lives better, Berkus has one of those all-access personalities that is intoxicating…and look at that head of hair and great smile! (premieres September 13th)

Boris Kodjoe/Undercovers (NBC): This new action thriller featuring husband and wife spies is already generating heat not just from the solid pilot episode but from the beautiful leads including Boris Kodjoe. The former fashion model has been popping up here and there since he appeared on Showtime’s series Soul Food several years ago but now we’ll be able to see him every week as he fights crime and, well, looks good doing it. (premieres September 22nd)

Daniel Dae Kim at the Comic Con HAWAII FIVE 0 panel last month.

Daniel Dae Kim/Hawaii Five-0 (CBS): Kim is probably one of the most fortunate actor in the business these days having survived six years on Lost (even if his character did die in the end) and found his next job without having to relocate from Hawaii. The even better news is that the CBS reboot of the classic is one of the highest anticipated of the new fall season and while many credit that to hotter-than-hot Alex O’Loughlin, Kim deserves some credit for being just as fine. (premieres September 20th)

Mark Deklin

Bryce Johnson

James Wolk

James Wolk/Mark Deklin/Bryce Johnson/The Men of Lone Star (FOX): Wolk is the newcomer who landed his part in routine audition (and let me know if you see that little George Clooney-esque grin that helps make the guy so damn charming), Deklin is the handsome, familiar face (Desperate Housewives, The Ex List) who has both the lighter comedic skills and the serious dramatic chops to make him a stand-out in this big cast and Johnson was seen on ABC Family’s newest hit Pretty Little Liars and, as he told me recently at the Paley Center, still gets shout-outs for his role on Popular (Ryan Murphy’s series way before Glee) but regardless of their good looks, these three men can also act and each raise up the material in FOX’s latest prime time serial offering. It might be easy to write this series off as a Dallas-copy but Lone Star goes beneath the surface with con games, multiple romances and family intrigue that should entice viewers looking for more these days. And, come on, look at these guys. If you just want a trio of good looking guys (and, hey, Jon Voight and David Keith are there for those who like their dudes a little older), look no further. (premieres September 20th)

….and how could I have a hunk list without a few pics of our favorite hunks of all time, right?

Playing both good and bad sides of Stefan, Paul Wesley doesn't disappoint

Ian Somerhalder as the dastardly Damon Salvatore

Jensen Ackles was just as striking in person at Comic Con as he is on SUPERNATURAL

Dressed or undressed, Alex O'Loughlin has the power to WOW his fans!

Well, hello, Jared Padalecki!

But … but … where are Stargate Universe’s galaxy of hunks? Brian J. Smith, Jamil Walker Smith, Luis Ferreira, David Blue, Robert Carlyle, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Peter Kelamis, Haig Sutherland?

Cindy August 12, 2010 at 7:15 am

So many lovelies!!! Where on earth do I look first???????????!!!

skyefleur August 12, 2010 at 7:27 am

I’d agree, missing Brian J. Smith. Also Eric Balfour (if Haven is still on), Michael Pitt (Boardwalk empire), Michael Raymond-James (Terriers), Charlie Hunnan (how can you miss him :D) eric christian olsen (only good reason to watch ncis la), Kris Polaha, Dax shepard, Jeff Probst, Jessee Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), joshua jackson ‘Pacey-Con’ :D, donnie Walhberg.

Those i don’t like on your list, Paul Welsey – he’s melting in front of our eyes -, Mehcad brooks -way too much to the point of not being eye candy, the lonestar boys, Mcqueen, Trevino, boris kodjoe, Daniel Dae Kim. With gorham, the bod is wonderful, and the face too thin, he’s really misleading when wearing a shirt 😀

Heather August 12, 2010 at 8:45 am

Fantastic list. Don’t get the appeal of either Jensen Ackles or Alex O’Blahghlin, but kudos on everyone else mentioned/shown!

Wilson August 12, 2010 at 9:58 am

Where is Tom Welling? He’s hotter than all of these guys!

The Event Log August 12, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Ritter’s star is definitely starting to shine. He has that non-threatening masculinity that many women seem to like.

Connie (aka FangFan62) August 12, 2010 at 4:58 pm

Thanks for Alex!!! ((((Hugs))))

Joe Manganiello isn’t too bad either. LOL

TWD August 12, 2010 at 6:01 pm

You just had to get a pic of Alex in there, didn’t you? NO COMPLAINTS!! I don’t know that Daniel Dae Kim is AS hot as Alex, but he’s definitely up there. I always thought the Lost producers should have had him take his shirt off instead of Josh Holloway doing it. Josh is gorgeous, but doesn’t have the body of DDK! Looking forward to seeing both him and Alex on Hawaii Five-0!

Shamrock317 August 12, 2010 at 6:37 pm

Hey Heather, rather immature of you to purposely misspell Alex O’Loughlin’s name. He’s a classy guy with fine acting skills, not a blah bone in his body.

Sheila Mayo August 13, 2010 at 10:15 am

Damon Salvatore AKA Ian Somerhalder is Sex on Legs and seeing so many hotties has made my heart go faster ;p

Ramz August 13, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Woah! I adore this list cuz it has Paul Wesley, Jared Padalecki and of course my favorite Jensen Ackles and IAN SOMERHALDER! WOOHOO!

danny August 14, 2010 at 7:49 am

Sendhil Ramamurthy on Covert Affairs is WAY hotter than Christopher Gorham. Jensen Ackles ROCKS too.

Jim August 14, 2010 at 4:34 pm

It was a close toss-up between Chris and Sendhil…I’m sure Mr. Ramamurthy will show up on a future hunks list! 🙂

Jim August 14, 2010 at 4:35 pm

So glad you liked it…and glad I included those last few pics so I wouldn’t hear it from all the Supernatural/Vampire Diaries fans!! 🙂

Mrs Salvatore August 15, 2010 at 12:52 pm

IAN SOMERHALDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😛 he can bit me anyday!!!!….not all the guys on the list are HAWT!!

Overdamoon August 15, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Hi Jim,
I’ve been meaning to leave some comments here last week but after seeing da list, I had to dash off to take a cold shower. Then, I got too cold and had to heat up some warm soup and forgot the rest. I’ll check out The Event and Undercovers this fall. Boris Kodjoe and the actress really heat up the screen. And of course, Alex O’ and Daniel Dae Kim on Hawaii Five-0. 🙂

That pic you dug up of Mehcad Brooks looks really HAWT!!!

Jason August 19, 2010 at 8:09 pm

You know, Jim…it’s hard job. I’m glad you’re here to do it!
