NEWS: Sharon Stone to guest-star on LAW & ORDER: SVU

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – January 5, 2010 – Oscar nominee and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone (“The Practice,” “Casino”) will guest-star over an arc of four episodes on NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (Wednesdays, 9-10 p.m. ET) as a former cop-turned prosecutor. 

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Creator/Executive Producer Dick Wolf says, “It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon’s wattage and importance joining SVU.” 

Stone won an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in “The Practice” and earned a Golden Globe for her performance in the feature film “Casino.” She also was nominated for an Oscar as Best Actress for her work in “Casino.” 

Stone first gained widespread recognition for her sinister performance in the feature “Basic Instinct.” Her other notable films are “Total Recall,” “Irreconcilable Differences,” “Last Action Hero,” “The Mighty,” “Badlands,” “The Quick and the Dead,” “Catwoman,” “The Muse,” “Basic Instinct 2,” “Bobby” and “Last Dance.” Her upcoming films include “The Guest Room” and “Satisfaction.”

On television, Stone also appeared in the movie “If These Walls Could Talk 2,” “Will & Grace” and the miniseries “War and Remembrance.” Stone is represented by Paradigm and managed by Chuck Binder.

The hard-hitting and emotional series from NBC’s “Law & Order” brand chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York Police Department, the elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes. Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is now in its 11th season. 

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Media Studios. Wolf, is creator and executive producer, Neal Baer (NBC’s “ER,” “China Beach”), Ted Kotcheff (“Fun with Dick and Jane,” “Weekend at Bernie’s”) and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
