Billie Piper and James D'Arcy in SECRET LIFE OF A CALL GIRL
Last week, in order to help hype the third season premiere of its UK import Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Showtime aired a special half hour interview between series star Billie Piper and Brooke Magnanti, who, under the pseudonym Belle de Jour, wrote the Secret Diary of a Call Girl book that would later be adapted for the show. It was the first on-air interview that Magnanti had ever done and the chat between the women, if anything, showed that the series has remained faithful to much of Magnanti’s experiences when she was a London call girl.
As the new season unfolds, Hanna (who uses the name Belle in her call girl endeavors) has written a tell-all book about her experiences as a call girl and, as a result of its overwhelming success, sees her life getting more, not less, complicated which bodes well for an entertaining third season. To find out more about the upcoming episodes and how Piper, who is also an executive producer on the show, feels about what people say about the show and if the explicit scenes on the show have gotten easier to do, I rang her up in London for a chat.
Jim Halterman: A lot has changed between seasons two and three of the show in that you are now an executive producer on the show and you’ve also had a baby. Like your character says in the season premiere, have you bitten off too much?
Billie Piper: Yes, quite often I feel like I have taken on too much but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m really fortunate in that I like busying myself. CLICK HERE FOR MORE

What’s really disturbing about this is that a great deal of people seem to believe Magnanti who has apparently openly bragged about being a fraud to people at Bristol University. It’s been all over Bristol Uni that she was asked to stand as the writer because the real author is a bloke! She’s reported have said that she’s in it for a percentage of the movie deal money. It goes to show you just how gullible poor Billie is! I mean she took this hook line and sinker with no evidence to support the claims.
Hmmmm….hadn’t heard that about Magnanti. Where did you see this? I’d be curious to read up on that.
First it came out of Bristol Uni from a source called ‘Paul’ that she was the real author and that she was inspired to write the blog based on stories she garnered from her father’s ‘girlfriends’. Then it came out later, apparently over several wines at Bristol’s ‘The Woods’ bar that she is friends with the real author (a guy) who she collaborated with on the blog. He is apparently the one who managed to get the blog all the media attention through his connections. I have read comments from Paul on other sites about this. What is being said from the Bristol Uni end is that Magnanti has struggled with colleagues and students calling her a ‘ho’, some even having refused to work with her… She apparently likes a wine or two and has let it be leaked that she was actually never a ‘ho’ at all.
It makes sense as the blog read like a silly pretty woman type fantasy. Also, there’s been a lot of speculation from real high class prostitutes on a variety of blogs that she isn’t good looking enough to earn that kind of money nowadays with so many women on the game. After seeing her on the interviews with Billie, I’d have to agree-she’s a total crater face!
